Washington Brewers Festival
June 14, 2008 – 8:13 pmWe came out to the Washington Brewers Festival today (Saturday 6/14/2008) to hear the results of the Puget Sound Pro-Am Competition and to sample some excellent beer. When Mark gets a chance he is going to update the page to add the Brewers selections as well as put up the uncoded competition results.
I had to wait to announce the comp results until the breweries made their selections but I’m happy to announce that my Munich Helles received first in category and Best of Show. My American Barleywine received first in category and honorable mention in BOS round. My Smoked Porter received third in category.
For the Pro-Am part my Munich Helles will be brewed by Diamond Knot and entered into the 2008 GABF Pro-Am. Also my American Barleywine will be brewed by Elliot Bay Brewery and entered into the 2009 GABF Pro-Am. I’m very excited to go out and work with the brewers.
With so many beers available I wasn’t able to sample everything I wanted to but there were some excellent beers that I tried. The Diamond Knot cask smoked porter was excellent as well as their Industrial IPA. I was also very impressed with the Deschutes Hop Henge Imperial IPA.
Dogfish Head amazed me by always having one of the longest lines every time I walked by. They were serving up Aprihop through their Randall with hops and fresh apricots in it. It was excellent and so was their Festina Peche.
I wish I had more time to hang out and talk with the great people I met, but alas my 3 month old daughter was getting tired as were the rest of us.
